Baroness Vere, Minister responsible for buses at the Department for Transport, has visited Truro to see Cornwall’s successful and innovative bus fare pilot.
The Minister was welcomed by local Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory, who said:
“I was pleased to meet with Baroness Vere in Truro today so I could show her first hand our successful bus fare pilot in Cornwall.”
“The pilot, which allows single passengers to travel anywhere in Cornwall, on as many different buses and routes as they like for just £5 a day, and families the same for £10 a day is incredible value for money, and makes a big difference to people who rely on our bus network to get around our rural areas in particular.”
“This is part of a £23m government investment in Cornwall to trial cheap bus fares to encourage more people to travel by bus, and I was pleased to show the Minister how successful it has been.”
“I look forward to working with the excellent team at Cornwall Council to further promote and expand the pilot in our Duchy, as well as seeing it utilised as best practice across the country.”
