Cherilyn Mackrory, Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, is encouraging local residents to register to work on nearby farms following the launch of the Government’s Pick for Britain initiative.
Earlier this week the government launched its “Pick for Britain” campaign as part of industry efforts to attract people to work on UK farms during the COVID-19 crisis.
The NFU says up to 80,000 seasonal fruit and veg pickers are needed to help with the harvest so that nothing grown goes to waste:
Cherilyn said:
“The Pick for Britain project is a great opportunity for people who are currently without work or furloughed to be able to work on a farm and contribute to the national effort of feeding our country during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“I encourage anyone who is interested to go on to the Pick for Britain website to find out more and get involved.”
