The Government has confirmed that £1.4 million will be made available for housing support for people in drug and alcohol treatment in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly through a range of programmes.
These initiatives include:
- Floating Support Workers who will provide support across temporary and supported housing projects, and to people in their own tenancies. They will provide 24/7 coverage across all of the Integrated Care Area and provide personalised support to individuals in treatment, and support to landlords.
- A new specialist housing support caseworker will work with people before they enter residential detox or rehab to find suitable accommodation and work with clients whose circumstances change whilst they are in treatment.
Welcoming the news was Truro and Falmouth’s Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory, who said:
“I am pleased to see more Government investment into Cornwall with this funding to support people in drug and alcohol treatment to get the help they need to recover from these issues.”
“I look forward to seeing this funding drawn down and used by Cornwall Council and our local NHS organisations to make a real difference to the lives of those who need it.”
