Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan has today confirmed that Truro and Penwith College has been successful in their bid to the Office for Students (OfS) for capital funding from the Government’s Strategic Priorities Grant.
Truro and Penwith College has been awarded £3,683,243 to develop a new lecture theatre for nursing and allied health students and to acquire new specialist engineering, digital and clinical skills equipment. The funding will enhance facilities and access for higher education students to specialist and industry-relevant learning provision.
This funding supports the Government’s skills reform agenda and offers more opportunities for students up and down the country.
The Government has provided the Office for Students £450million of capital funding to improve and expand teaching facilities that support its key strategic priorities. These include supporting strategic high-cost subjects, for example science, engineering and health, and improving graduate employability.
Truro and Penwith College is one of one hundred providers that were successful in securing funding for capital projects that will directly help achieve these skills reform ambitions to strengthen higher and further education and better align skills training to the needs of employers to enable communities to thrive.
Truro and Falmouth’s Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory said:
“This is more brilliant news for the excellent team at Truro and Penwith College, who I congratulate on their successful bid, which has unlocked millions in further Government investment for this exceptional establishment.”
“This funding will provide the means to build the future our NHS needs, while supporting the college to develop state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.”
“I look forward to seeing this funding drawn down and work start on the new facilities and will continue to work with all concerned to ensure our young people get the best possible future in their education and beyond.”
