Cherilyn Mackrory MP for Truro and Falmouth today visited Penair Secondary School in Truro to see how Conditional Improvement Funding (CIF) has been used for the benefit of pupils.
CIF is available from the Department for Education to schools and eligible academies. Its purpose is to help schools to complete small expansion projects, with the focus of keeping schools and college buildings in safe and working order.
Penair Secondary School were successful in securing CIF through the Education & Skills Funding Agency and have utilised it to complete essential projects across the site. These have included the instillation of new roofs and floors for satellite teaching rooms, and the construction of a parameter ringfence around the site for the safeguarding of pupils. The school have also invested in new facilities and equipment directly in the classrooms for the benefit of pupil learning and experience.
Cherilyn says:
“Penair is a wonderful school with an amazing learning environment for our children. They have some of the best facilities not only in Cornwall, but across the UK, coming 20th nationally for physical education and student health. This school puts pupils first and have done amazing things to make sure they all have a space to learn which caters to their individual needs.”
