Cherilyn Mackrory MP for Truro and Falmouth celebrates the continual success of the Royal Cornwall Show.
More than 120,000 people attended this year’s show, enjoying entertainment, shopping, food, and competitions across three packed days. Since 1793, the Royal Cornwall Show aims to showcase the best in Cornish agriculture, supporting industry to continue thriving and improving.
Cherilyn said: It’s wonderful to see the rural community come together in the sunshine to celebrate a great day out. I saw families, and people of all ages just out enjoying each other’s company and having a good time.
It’s also great to see the animals. Not just the cows, sheep, and pigs, which are always amazing, but other examples of the livestock we live alongside. I saw one man perform a stunt with five horses and it was incredible.
Representing the Government at the Royal Cornwall Show, the Rt Hon. Thérèse Coffey MP used the event to announce £31 million of new funding for farmers to buy new equipment and technology intended to boost sustainable food production and reduce emissions and waste.
Thérèse said: By empowering farms to invest cash in new kit, we are ensuring our farmers, growers and foresters have the equipment they need to embrace innovation, protect the environment, and contribute to a thriving and sustainable agricultural sector.
This funding represents the latest part of the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund, designed to improve and streamline farming through innovation and invention which the Royal Cornwall Show has always aspired to promote.
