Cherilyn Mackrory, Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth has called today’s announcement that the Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021 Tall Ships Race will be starting from Falmouth amazing news for the town.
The maritime event will be the sixth time Falmouth has hosted the tall ships, with the inaugural one for the town being held in 1966, and the last one at the town held in 2014.
“This is amazing news for Falmouth and I can’t wait to see the Tall Ships return to our town for the start of the Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021 Tall Ships Race.”
“While the start of the race itself is always a spectacular occurrence, it isn’t just about the race and we will also be able to look forward to the Parade of Sail, Tall Ships Captain’s Dinner, tour around the ships and I am sure a varied programme of events from our town team.”
“The last time Falmouth hosted the Tall Ships saw an estimated £10million go into our local economy and I am sure 2021’s event will see the same, if not better results.”
“This will be a crowning moment in Falmouth’s calendar for 2021 and I look forward to helping make it happen.”
