Cherilyn Mackrory, Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, has welcomed the release of the latest Care Quality Commission report for RCHT, which shows improvements in a number of areas and recommends RCHT exits special measures.
The CQC is the independent body that inspects and regulates health and social care services in England. The inspection was conducted by inspectors who visited the Trust in November and December 2019.
Key points from the report are that:
- Well led has improved from ‘inadequate’ last year to ‘good’
- Use of resources has improved from ‘requires improvement’ to ‘good’
- Maternity is now rated good
- End of life care is now rated good
- Outpatients are now rated good

“The CQC’s latest report is good news for RCHT, the staff that work there and its patients. I am pleased to see that the CQC has recommended RCHT exits special measures, and this is reflected in the improvements shown in the report.”
“There are still a lot of areas for improvement, which again are reflected in the report, but this is a real turning point for RCHT in my view, and I would like to place on record my thanks to the incredibly hard working team who work in all sectors, from clinical to admin and everything in-between to have gotten this result.”
“I will continue to work with all involved to see this trend of improvement continues and the areas that need more work get the support they need.”
