Truro and Falmouth Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory has kicked off her Summer Recess tour with a visit to Falmouth Docks.
During her visit she met with former harbour master and now CEO Mark Samson as well as Chair of the Commissioners Carrie Simmonds who also sits on the Falmouth place shaping board.
Cherilyn said:
“Just because Parliament is not sitting does not mean MPs aren't working, and I anticipate this summer being a busy one as I hope to catch up with a lot of people, businesses and organisations I would have normally visited sooner as a new MP, but couldn't due to the lockdown.”
“First on my summer visit schedule was the Falmouth Harbour Commissioners.”
“They play an important role in managing approximately 17 square miles of bay and estuary within the harbour limits.”
“We discussed a wide variety of issues including the extensive and historic responsibilities of the harbour authority and the issues facing them today.”
“I look forward to working with them closely in the future to ensure this key feature of our constituency is managed to the best of its potential.”
Mark Sansom. Chief Executive of Falmouth Harbour Commissioners said:
“It was a pleasure to host Cherilyn on her visit to the Harbour. It gave us the opportunity to update her on the current challenges faced by ourselves and the wider ports industry and to hear about relevant Government policies that may affect us in the future. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to provide a full tour of the Harbour by boat and we hope to arrange this for a later date.”
