Cherilyn Mackrory MP meets with local police to discuss Truro issues
Truro Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory has today met with officers from the Truro Police team to discuss the issues that the city faces.
The MP joined the officers on their beat and took the opportunity to discuss the issues they face on a day to basis and what more she could do to support them in their work.
Cherilyn said:
“It was great to join Rick and Greg from the Truro Police Team today walking around the city centre.”
“It was really helpful to see their work first hand, to understand and talk about the issues facing us in Truro at the minute.”
“On the day that a new Neighbourhood Beat Officer, specifically for the city centre starts their job, I was pleased to hear that they will be in place to deal specifically with the issues around street drinking, youths and young offenders. A great addition on top of Shane who is the other Neighbourhood Beat Officer for the city centre.”
“This follows on from the £20k that has been made available from our Police and Crime Commissioner to tackle anti-social behaviour in Truro just two weeks ago. This money is being spent on security, street marshalls and extended CCTV coverage in the city.”
“There are clearly issues in Truro at the moment with crime and I want to continue working with our police, council, local businesses and residents to crack down on this before they get any worse.”
