Cherilyn Mackrory, Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, has joined MPs and councils across the South West in telling people to reconsider their travel plans and #StayHome this Easter Weekend.
Cherilyn said:
“The Government guidance is clear, people should not be travelling unnecessarily – the majority of people have understood this, but there are a persistent few who have not got the message.”
“My plea to you is please do not come to Cornwall at Easter Weekend or during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Coming on holiday or going to your second home is not necessary and you need to stay away.”
“Our police are doing an excellent job in monitoring the roads and I would like to thank them, and all the other partners for doing their bit in ensuring this lockdown is enforced.”
“Driving on holiday or to your second home in Cornwall will do nothing but spread this virus and put more stress on our NHS and emergency services.”
“Cornwall is a welcoming place in normal times but these are not normal times.”
“I hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter but please do so from your primary residence on this occasion.”
