Truro and Falmouth MP Cherilyn Mackrory has welcomed the legislation that went through Parliament today that exempts operators of public toilets from having to pay business rates.
Cherilyn said:
“As a former Cornwall Councillor I know just how much it costs the operators of public toilets, often town and parish councils with limited resources, to run them, often tens of thousands of pounds a year.”
“Business rates are simply not applicable to public toilets and I am pleased to see the Government listen to the calls for change that were led by Cornish MPs and change the law accordingly.”
“This will undeniably help Cornwall keep its public toilets open for residents and visitors alike.”
