Truro and Falmouth Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory has visited the Royal Navy’s Truro-affiliated ship HMS Tamar.
The MP toured the ship, which was lowered into the water in 2018, and has recently undergone operational sea trials, for a better understanding of the vessel’s role in the future operations of the Navy.
Cherilyn said:
“I was delighted to visit HMS Tamar for a tour, meet some of the crew and better understand its role in the future operations of our Navy.”
“This was my first visit to an operational warship and it was good to hear how the ship runs on a day to day basis and the future tasks that will be asked of her.”
“We also had a really interesting discussion about the transferrable qualifications serving crew members can achieve while in the Navy and how useful they are for life after service.”
“This is a new, state of the art warship and it was particularly good to hear of her impressive green credentials.”
“My thanks to all who welcomed me for the visit and I look forward to working with them to ensure our naval assets are protected and grown, particularly as we enter such a crucial time in the UK’s post-Brexit future.”
